Dedicated to Scotland's Sustainable Future

Since 2011, we have helped Glasgow businesses navigate the shifting landscape of energy provision and environmental responsibility.

Our Foundation

Tranquil-osprey was established by a group of energy engineers who recognised that Scottish businesses needed practical, unbiased guidance on renewable energy adoption. Too often, organisations were approached by equipment vendors with sales-driven recommendations rather than strategies genuinely aligned with operational needs.

We created a consultancy focused entirely on client outcomes. We do not sell or install equipment, which means our advice remains independent. Our revenue comes solely from consulting fees, ensuring recommendations serve your interests rather than our supply chain relationships.

Based in central Glasgow, we have grown from three founding consultants to a team of twelve specialists covering renewable technologies, building services, regulatory compliance, and financial modelling for energy investments.

Principles Guiding Our Work

Independence

We maintain no commercial relationships with equipment manufacturers or installation contractors. This separation allows us to evaluate options objectively and recommend solutions based purely on technical merit and cost-effectiveness for your situation.

Technical Rigour

Every recommendation we make is supported by detailed analysis. We model energy flows, calculate payback periods with realistic assumptions, and stress-test projections against variable conditions including weather patterns and energy price fluctuations.

Practical Focus

Theoretical ideals must translate into workable implementations. We consider operational constraints, maintenance requirements, and integration with existing systems to ensure our strategies can actually be executed within your organisation.

Long-term Perspective

Energy infrastructure decisions have consequences spanning decades. We help clients think beyond immediate returns to consider technology evolution, regulatory trends, and changing business requirements over the asset lifecycle.

Our Team

Our consultants bring backgrounds in mechanical engineering, building services, environmental science, and energy economics. Several hold chartered status with relevant professional institutions including the Energy Institute and CIBSE.

The team includes specialists in solar photovoltaic systems, wind energy integration, heat pump technology, building envelope optimisation, and energy management software platforms. This breadth allows us to address projects ranging from single-building retrofits to multi-site portfolio strategies.

We invest significantly in ongoing professional development. The energy sector evolves rapidly, with new technologies, changing incentive structures, and updated regulations appearing regularly. Staying current ensures our advice reflects the latest options available to clients.

Areas of Expertise

Commercial Buildings

Office complexes, retail spaces, and mixed-use developments present specific challenges around tenant arrangements, peak demand management, and balancing comfort with efficiency. We understand the commercial realities shaping these projects.

Industrial Facilities

Manufacturing operations often have concentrated energy demands and process heat requirements. Our industrial experience covers integration of renewables with production schedules and identifying waste heat recovery opportunities.

Public Sector

Schools, council buildings, and NHS facilities face particular procurement constraints and accountability requirements. We help navigate public sector frameworks while identifying funding streams specific to governmental organisations.

Multi-Site Portfolios

Property companies and organisations with multiple locations benefit from portfolio-level strategies that prioritise investments across sites based on impact, feasibility, and strategic alignment.

Client Engagement

We structure engagements to match your needs and budget constraints. Some clients require comprehensive strategic planning covering entire property portfolios. Others seek focused assistance with specific questions like evaluating a solar installation proposal or understanding new building regulations.

Initial consultations help us understand your situation and allow us to propose an appropriate scope of work. We provide fixed-fee quotations wherever possible so you know costs before committing. For ongoing advisory relationships, we offer retainer arrangements providing access to our team for questions and periodic reviews.
